It’s that time again.
Here are the rules to my favourite game. It is called “Tenuous Connections”. You have to come up with a tenuous connection to a celebrity. The cheesier or weirder the celebrity the more points you get. The more tenuous (or weirder) the connection the better too (although there is a cut-off point – seeing them on television does not count, nor, please note Heather, does living in the same country).
Some game winning past entries (none of them mine):
(1)Â Â My Dad once shared a hotel bed with Roy Hattersley;
(2)Â Â My sister went out with the brother of the saxaphone player in Spandau Ballet.
(3)Â Â Thom Yorke babysat for us once in Cornwall.
Those of you who have entered before cannot rely on an entry used before (i.e. no rodent, Norah). I am easily influenced so it is worth commenting on other people’s entires in the hope of persuading me to score them up or down.
Who’ll be first?
I shook hands with disgraced former anchorman of CBS Evening News, Dan Rather, in St. Peter’s Square. I told him he was doing a great job, which I’m sure he felt was a great compliment, coming from me.
ok, ok, i have a few more, the first is VERY tenuous! my step great grandmother is a direct descendant of catherine pa (the last wife of henry the 8th) anyone who know me will attest to the fact that i am a bit of a princess, with good reason.
whilst trekking in nepal i stayed at the same tea house as david bellamy (yes, whilst he was there).
i walked past saracen (from the gladiators) in oxford street about 12 years ago.
i spoke to carlos alomar on the phone (david bowie’s guitarist) when i was 16 and they were in australia for their glass spider tour.
i think that’s it!
Personally I’d vote for Lauren’s best friend-nephew of Mick Jagger connection – brilliantly tenuous.
Am I too late to enter? In my high school we had a chemistry teacher who it was rumoured once played in a band called Nazareth. Apparently Nazareth hasn’t really been heard of outside of my home town but it was a big deal to us kids!
I went to dance classes with Scary Spice and Bev Callard’s (alias Liz MacDonald in Corrie) daughter.
My school art teacher slept with David Bowie at Art college.
My sister was chatted up and snogged by Dec (as in Ant and Dec)
Bez from the Happy Mondays offered to buy me a drink.
I have ‘shot the breeze’ with Paul Heaton from The Beautiful South at an aftershow party.
I have queued for a wee at Reading next to the Kinickie girls (one of whom is now the very sparkly XFM DJ Lauren Laverne)
oooooh loads
